The West Oxfordshire Vetka Association is a charity based in West Oxfordshire in the UK but with members nationwide.
It supports schools, hospitals and sustainable developments in Vetka District in Belarus – the place in the world worst affected by the Chernobyl disaster. It will be two generations before radiation levels in parts of Vetka District reach acceptable levels and 244,000 years before they return to pre-Chernobyl levels.
Our Vision is that the projects we set up and support will flourish and in so doing, improve the financial situation of many people. We hope that the equipment we have given to schools and hospitals will ensure better education and healthcare for the people of Vetka.
Our Mission is to support the people in the Vetka District of Gomel Region in Belarus by providing resources for sustainable development projects such as goose rearing and polytunnels. To help schools by providing computers and other equipment and arranging exchange visits so that teachers can improve their English language skill; and to support families in need. We also promote tourism to Belarus.
